15 Jun Closing And Award Ceremony
On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Deputy Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff Vice Admiral Fragkiskos Leloudas HN attended the closing ceremony of the 54th CISM World Military Sailing Championship as the representative of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff General Konstantinos Floros. and he was the one who declared the closing of the championship which was held in Greece from Wednesday 7 to Thursday 15 of June 2023, at a ceremony that took place at the premises of the Yacht Club of Greece in Piraeus.
The conduct of the CISM World Military Sailing Championship in Greece for the second time after 1962 confirms the constantly upgraded position of the Greek Delegation to CISM and our country in general, in international military sports, demonstrating the decisive role of the Supreme Sports Council of the Hellenic Armed Forces, which leads the promotion of similar actions, promoting the ideas and values of Olympism.
The Hellenic Armed Forces Sailing team participated in the Championship with a five members crew, on Platu-25 class boats and ranked second among nine participating countries, while the first and third place were occupied by the team of Brazil and Italy respectively. The Danish team received the “Fair Play” Trophy.
The closing ceremony was also attended by:
• The Regional Councilor of the Attica Region Mr. Stavros Melas, as representative of the Regional Governor of Attica, Mr. Georgios Patoulis.
• The Ambassador of Ukraine to Greece Mr. Shutenko Sergii.
• The B Brunch director of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Major General Evangelos Oikonomou as the representative of the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff Lieutenant General Themistoklis Bourolias, the director of the engineering department of the Hellenic Army General Staff Brigadier General Efthymios Giannakakis as the representative of the Chief of the Army General Staff Lieutenant General Angelos Choudeloudis and the Deputy Commander of the Hellenic Naval Academy, Commodore Charalambos Gavalas as the representative of the Chief of the Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Ioannis Drimousis.
• Major General Emmanouιl Dourvetakis as the representative of the Chief of the Hellenic Police Force Lieutenant General Lazaros Mavropoulos, Rear Admiral of the Coast Guard Nikolaos Polemis, as the representative of the Chief of the Hellenic Coast Guard, Vice Admiral Georgios Alexandrakis and Fire Brigadier General Nikolaos Balsis, as the representative of the Chief of the Fire Brigade Lieutenant General Georgios Pournaras.
• Mrs Agi Kasoumi as the representative of the Secretary General of Sports Mr Georgios Mavrotas, the Deputy Governor of Islands of the Attica region Mr Stavros Voidonikolas, the Deputy Mayor of Piraeus Mrs. Andriana Zarakeli.
• The Chief of the Greek Delegation to CISM and director of the Supreme Sports Council of the Hellenic Armed Forces, Navy Captain Spyridon Andriopoulos HN.
• The CISM Secretary General Navy Captain Roberto Recchia as the Official CISM Representative (OCR) and the President of the CISM Sailing Committee (PCSC Sailing) Navy Captain Jorge Flethes.
• The Defense Attaché of Spain, of Italy and of Poland in Greece.
• The Chairman of the Yacht Club of Greece Mr. Georgios Prokopiou and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club, Mr. Ioannis Maragkoudakis.
